Canary Wharf is known to be the financial hub of London. With excellent skyscrapers next to the harbour it’s where modern architecture meets old school harbour. Here are some of the coolest sites of Canary Wharf by the sea.
One Canada Square is a large skyscraper in Canary Wharf and it’s one of the tallest structures in Britain. Between 1990 and 2010, it was the biggest skyscraper in the UK. In 2012, a building called The Shard surpassed One Canada Square as the tallest building in the country.
There are few other cool structures in Canary Wharf such as the cylindrical skyscraper, which is the first of five new buildings in Canary Wharf. Other buildings of note include; Canary Wharf Tube Station, the Citigroup Skyscraper and 10 Upper Bank Street.
The whole of Canary Wharf has been transformed from a successful dock of the UK to an important financial hub of the city of London, where some of the worlds biggest companies come to bank and even have their headquarters. Canary Wharf is only going to get bigger so it’s going to be interesting to find out how unrecognisable this place will be in another 10 or 15 years. It’s good that a place is evolving but sometimes too much regeneration in an area takes away its identity.
